Supporting those Sleeping Rough
Sleeping rough on the streets, in cars or tents is increasingly the only option left for thousands of people in Australia. Families are sleeping in cold, damp tents and people are spending years living on streets. This type of homelessness is dangerous, traumatic, and often life-threatening. But it is also solvable.
Why your support is needed
In regional towns and urban communities across Australia, rates of rough sleeping are on the rise as the housing crisis forces people into homelessness. The brutality of ‘living rough’ in makeshift shelters is a healthcare crisis, often leading to premature deaths. At the same time, frontline organisations are battling to keep programs running that are critically important in responding to and ending long-term homelessness and rough sleeping.

Your donations create real change
Donations throughout July and August will be helping people experiencing rough sleeping, or in their cars and tents. Together we will help provide care through assertive outreach, supply basic essentials like hygiene packs and clothing, and end primary homelessness through Housing First solutions.

Let’s help more people like Julie
Julie and her dog Romeo have finally moved into a permanent home after years of rough sleeping and couch surfing. They were forced to give up their belongings and were left with no resources to furnish their new home. Housing and shelter options were also drastically reduced when large pets are part of the family. Thanks to StreetSmart donors, Julie and Romeo spent their first night in their new home with dignity, sleeping in a bed rather than on a floor.

StreetSmart has a long history of advocating for and supporting those who are sleeping rough and experiencing long-term homelessness. From funding street outreach teams, homeless healthcare clinics, and Housing First responses we our continuing our long history of advocating for and caring for those sleeping rough.
Other options for support
Donate White Goods
For every $250 raised, essential white goods can be provided to a displaced person. Setting up someone for tenancy success is a vital part of any homeless support service.
Donate a Sleep Kit
For every $15 raised, a sleep kit is provided to a displaced person. Containing a towel, fitted sheet, flat sheet and pillowcase, they are delivered through 555 local community charity partners.
Donate a Meal
For every $5 raised, a wholesome meal is provided to a displaced person. To date, 290,586 meals have been provided across 150+ Community partners.
