We believe everyone should have a safe and secure place to call home
It is a basic human right
Ending homelessness will take a whole of community response

Through innovative campaigns we enable and empower communities
to raise vital funds and awareness
to bring about change for people experiencing homelessness or at risk.

We keep it grassroots, we keep it local

We seek out, support and partner with small organisations and projects, in the communities where funds are raised.

Recently Funded Projects

End of Year appeal generates $67,000 in grants

$67,000 has been distributed through 13 Making-a-Home grants. This funding is ensuring that vulnerable people are supported with all parts of a safe and secure home, from a roof over their heads, to food for their children, or financial help to keep paying bills households and for grassroots homelessness services. All of this has been made possible through our End of Year appeal with public, corporate, and philanthropic donation efforts. Read more about the impact here.

$14,600 for hospitality training and employment programs

TipJar has kicked off 2023 with several grants totalling $14,600 that are helping to create and sustain hospitality job training opportunities for vulnerable and at-risk people. These programs are helping change the story for people who face barriers to employment and financial security. With vulnerable cohorts experiencing ongoing effects of the pandemic and associated economic challenges these grants are helping people gain financial security. Read more here.

Support for LGBTIQA+ communities facing homelessness

Violence, family rejection, discrimination, and trauma in these communities drive the over-representation of LGBTIQA+ people among those who are homeless. We need to invest in more specialised services and workers who can support housing pathways for LGBTIQ+ people to ensure they are safe and secure. Our monthly fundraising in February helped support 60 people across 3 programs – read more here.
