FAQs about Donating to StreetSmart ‘Project of the Month’
How much of my donation gets to the projects?
A minimum of 85% of your donation reaches the ‘Project of the Month’. A maximum of 15% is retained to enable StreetSmart to develop and maintain our programs.
What updates will I get about the projects I help to fund?
We will provide feedback on a regular basis both on the Donate Now page and through our regular Enews.
Why is donating to StreetSmart more effective than giving to the projects directly?
StreetSmart is built on the power of collective giving. We encourage people to chip in and then together we collectively fund a project creating great impact. We have an unrivalled 13 year track record of seeking out and funding projects delivering real impact on the ground.
How does StreetSmart choose which projects to fund?
Through a network built up over 13 years StreetSmart seek out and find projects to support. We work hard to seek out and work with those smaller, independent organisations having a real impact on the ground for people who are homeless or at risk. These organisations generally don’t have fundraising resources or networks – and that’s where we fit in. Organisations apply for funding with applications reviewed by expert Grant Committees. To date we have funded over 450 organisations and 1225 projects. You can read more about projects funded on our ‘Who We Help’ page.
When do the projects receive the funds I donate to StreetSmart?
Grants are made monthly at the end of the month following payment.
Can I choose which projects I'd like StreetSmart to fund?
No. StreetSmart works to find projects for funding. We are always interested if you have information about projects we should be working with.
What happens when a project is funded?
Funds are transferred the month following payment. Grant recipients will provide feedback on the project supported.
Can I visit the projects to see the work?
We don’t currently offer visits.
Will I get a tax receipt from StreetSmart or the projects?
From StreetSmart Australia.
What happens if I want to change, pause or stop my monthly donations?
Yes you have full control through your ‘Donorbox’ account.
How do I update my payment or account details?
Login to DonorBox login page , follow the instructions on how to edit payment or account details.
How long am I supporting the projects for?
Your monthly giving is ongoing until you stop or pause your gift.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, and a receipt is sent via email.
When will my bank account be credited each month for the donations?
On the anniversary date of your donation.
How do I know I can trust StreetSmart with my donations/bank details/personal information?
StreetSmart does not hold any of your credit card details. Any personal information gained through the sign up process is governed by our Privacy Policy published on this site. Credit card details are processed by Donor Box through STRIPE or PayPal so we recommend you familiarise yourself with their privacy policies.
